All of these new Portrait features, and yet it is nearly impossible to remove dust from headshots (fabric) without a trip to PS, as LR starts to slow down with dozens of clone tool stamps. D&S is also useful to remove long exposure hot pixels that are not automatically identified (night photography, etc.). This would simplify my workflow for several different things I do daily (including not having two 16-bit files residing on my hard drive), and I would think that many people would find it useful.

What exact version of Lr are you using? Is this for Lr, or LrC? LrC would be v 13.0.1

And what new Portrait features? (coming from a LrC user, not a Lr user, so I may be in the dark if it is a Lr add)

LR Classic v13.01, mac. 'New' portrait features meaning masking of people, auto selection of facial skin, teeth, eyes, etc. (I think came out in v.12?). Very useful portrait features, but needing to get rid of dust/hairs etc. on portraits/headshots is pretty common, and seems like could be implemented in LR pretty easily. I really don't want to take all my headshots into PS for this, it's time-consuming and creates an additional file.

Hi!

I'm working with brittle, dusty subjects against a white background in a studio environment. While I do my best in trying to clean the surface after each subject, I still have to manually remove every small bit of debris, which is very time consuming.

It's also necesarry to brighten the background and due to the even white background it's easy and very relaible to use the AI backrgound detection mask to do that.

Wouldn't it also make sense to implement a feature that uses AI to detect the background and remove spots, debris etc based on the "visualise spots" slider? Naturally it would still be a good idea to check the image an maybe make some manual adjustments - but I would imagine that could be good idea for product and object photography for a lot of scenarios (e-commerce/online stores, museums, universities, auction houses etc) where a subject is placed on an even background and that background requires a cleanup without having to do a lot of tedious manual work.

I  find that generative deletion works pretty well on backgrounds or clearly defined objects... but there's still one big point to be dealt with: dust in light areas on old photos (slides or film) scanned or retaken with a digital camera.
Why do we still have to deal with these dusts or defects individually when we can easily highlight the defects? Why can't we select all the dusts in a photo by selecting just a few? This seems to me to be much simpler than these generative deletions. If you can solve this problem or if you have another solution to suggest, I'd love to hear from you.

Best regards, Patrick
