P: Relink multiple folders at a time

The way files are managed and linked make it difficult to reconnect files that have been reorganised in different hard drives.

I would like the relink process to be more efficient and almost automatic, jiìust get the files names and reconnect everything that is found in the folders and subfolders in the designated paths.

At the moment Lightroom tries to do that, but only manages to reconnect a single folder at a time. I contacted customer service and they also agreed that this is the only possible way to do it at the moment, and that it could be improved.

  • the problem is that in many (perhaps most) cases I've dealt with with clients is that the same file name appears multiple places.  Sometimes this is the same photo but sometimes a completely different image.   In order for this idea to work the user would need to establish what criteria must match for LrC to relink it.  For example

  • Base file name
  • Full file name
  • Capture date/time
  • pixel dimensions
  • Etc.

Even so there can be ties.  so the user would also need to provide tie breaker "preferences" such as

  • Pecking order for disk drive image  found on
  • Pecking order for fodler tree
  • etc.

In other words very similar controls as one finds in 3rd partyduplicate finding programs
