Can't turn on Watermark function anymore

I was editing some photos this morning and went to put my watermark on them, but I can't even check the box to turn that feature on.  I tried with numerous photos and it just won't let me get to my watermarks.  All of my Adobe apps are updated.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  TYIA.

What is the File Export extension set to? If Original or DNG, and possibly PSD and TIF, you can't use the watermark feature. It has to be JPG or possible PNG for that option to be available.

Thank you for your reply.  I found that out just a little bit ago when working on some other photos.  I had been exporting as .tif files.  I thought I had done that before, as a lot of times I save them as the biggest file I can save...but I guess not!

I am very curious as to WHY they made it that way though.

Actually I just did a test for another post on these forums about watermarks and I have no problem exporting as TIF or even PSD and including a watermark. The only file options that does not allow it is DNG and Original.

Okay...well that is weird.  I just went back into LR and switched through the various export options, and the only one that turned it off, was if I tried to export as DNG or Original - as you stated.   I wonder if since my original file was .tif and the LR settings uses .tiff if that might have caused it to act weird?  I know it shouldn't...but.

Either way, everything seems to be just fine now.  Thank you again for all of your immediate assistance!

Hi there,

We are sorry about the experience with Lightroom Classic.

Would you mind sharing the version of the operating system you are using? Are the images you are working on Raw or Jpeg?

You can try to reset the preferences of Lightroom Classic to check if that helps. Please check: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/lightroom-classic/help/setting-preferences-lightroom.html#restore_preferences_to_default_settings

Please backup your presets, plug-ins, etc. before resetting the preferences.

Regards,

Nikunj

Nikunj,
Thank you for your reply.  I hadn't paid much attention to that earlier....but it appears that I was trying to do that with a .tif file.  Once I switched over to exporting as a jpeg...no problem at all getting my watermark to work.  I would have sworn that I had used it exporting as .tif files before.
