Question

Canon 5D Mark IV and photoshop compatibility

Hello,

I've got a couple of questions about the compatibility of the Mark IV raw and Photoshop CC.

I'm currently still using PS CC2014 and its related CR version.

Is it this version compatible with the Mark IV Raw? If not,  is it possible to update only CR and leave PS CC 2014?

Thanks in advance.

My Creative Cloud Apps does not show there is an update available.

I found in the Creative Cloud App a choice to check for updates and now the updates are visible.  Usually, CC app tells me automatically they are there.

Lightroom has been updated, and support for Mark IV raw files has been added (not including DPR files).

What version of LR are you saying is updated? I just downloaded 5.7. I have a stand alone version of LR, not CC.

Adobe informed me this morning that there will be no update for the 5D IV until sometime in November.  Awful job Adobe!!!!

Not sure where you got your information from but they've just released an update and its working fine. I'm editing 5d mark IV files now.

My camera just arrived.  I ordered it at B&H and hoped it would not come so soon so that LR would be ready for it once it arrived.  That way I wouldn't get caught up in wanting to use it before LR could handle the RAWs.

Shooting 2 events with the 5D Mark IV tomorrow. Going to record JPEG to the SD and RAW to the CF. Hopefully Adobe surprises me and Lightroom supports the RAW format by Monday, or else I'm just going to have to edit from the JPEGs (Canon Digital Photo Professional isn't working for me so I can't convert to TIFFs). I'd rather edit JPEGs shot on the 5D Mark IV than edit RAW shot on my 6D, which I upgraded from.

Come on Adobe, you can do it

I'm with ya, buddy.  Have two sessions this weekend, and I'll be shooting the Mark IV too instead of my 6D.  Fingers crossed....

Shooting  a wedding tomorrow and I shot an engagement session yesterday with the 5DIV.  I was completely blown away at the speed and accuracy of the AF...especially in tricky low light situations You guys will love it!  Fingers crossed Adobe gives us a gift on Monday !

Communication or any ETA would go a long way.

That's what everyone says every time a new model is released. The only answer that you can rely on is that you will have the update when Adobe is ready to release the update. Remember, this new Canon model isn't the only camera that has to be supported.

This is completely unacceptable.  The Canon 5D M3 was Canon's most successful camera launch ever and Adobe isn't ready to go with the 5D M4 RAW files.  I cannot believe I can't view my files and have to use DPP.  Why wasn't this ready to go day one??  You have guys in the field testing the cameras converting to DNG.  Come on guys.  Get your stuff together.

When the 5D M3 was first released, the early buyers had to wait for support just like you are having to wait now. It isn't just the camera maker's file format that needs to be supported. It's every single specific model that Adobe has to create profiles for. If you don't like the way it works then try convincing the camera makers to agree on a common file format for their raw files. That's where the real problem lies.

Agree with the one file format move.  That would sure help the problem.  The Canon 5D M3 was one of the top grossing cameras in the history of digital.  It isn't just another camera for adobe to spec out.  They had users in the field who were contributing and shooting for Canon.  Canon needed to share the specs with Adobe once the camera was ready to be sold.  As I understand it, they were ready to fly with the 1DX Mark II day of.
