Desktop shortcut in Lightroom?

New Here ,
Dec 28, 2019 Dec 28, 2019

I run a 15in MacBook Pro 2019 Model. I have been using Photoshop, Lightroom and Bridge for years. I always put new folders on my desktop, rename them and add my photo's. I then use bridge to rate the photo's followed by lightroom. I used to import photo's from the import button bottom left, then top left "Select a source" and click on desktop. This used to show the desktop images in the main window but it used to go to a tree with the desktop highlighted in the left panel. I then click mon the triangle to show all my folders on the desktop followed by picking the folder. I then imported my photo's. So I used to click

1. Import.

2. Select Source - Desktop.

3. Select Folder from left Panel.

4. Import Photo's

So four steps to import.

It also remebered where I was in the expanded tree so the next folder to import was easier I just hit import then click on the desktop triangle to show folders choose and import. Easy!!!

Now it's changed and it's slowing me down considerably!

1. Import.

2. Select Source - Desktop (As I have no photo's on my desktop that aren't in folders it shows me nothing and It just shows Macintosh HD.

So now I have to expand Macintosh HD using the triangle to open the tree. Then open Users. Then my "User Name". Then click on the triangle to open the tree showing folders on my desktop, finally clicking on the folder where the photo's I want to import are located.

I have tried "Dock" this folder but after the import it's back to square one. Not Happy!

So everytime I try to import a new folder from my desktop it's,

1. Import

2. Select Source - Desktop.

3. Expand Macintosh HD to show tree.

4. Expand Users.

5. Expand "User Name" - eg; My Macbook Pro.

6. Expand Desktop.

7. Find and click on the folder that you want to import.

*** 7 Steps against 4 and this has to be done for every import, the old way after the first import was to go click import, close the desktop tree click again to reveal folders choose and import photo's Once again 4 steps although clicking desktop as a double click was as quick as one click without having to look anywhere. So 7 against 3.5 clicks and I dont have to read as much. Please bring back the old way.

I feel Adobe has turned my Apple into a Lemon!

Thanks in advance. Sorry if this was a bit longwinded but I'm getting used to that in Lightroom.

After editing in lightroom I finalise my edits in Photoshop. I the move my folders to two removeable SSD drives to backup my work along with uploading to SmugMug.

Cheers Gary Sissons long time Adobe devotee!
