Develop module presets folder names
First, I have a Windows 10 64-bit system with all updates completed. This question will refer to Lightroom Classic CC 7.3.
With the 7.3 version, Adobe changed the develop module presets location to the same folder that Camera Raw uses. This required updating the .lrtemplate presets to .xmp accordingly. No issue there because it makes sense, at least to me. However, I am baffled by Lightroom's behavior in the new version.
When I first imported folders into Lightroom's Develop module, I would put LRD in front of the folder name so that I would know the presets were not print presets for example. Along comes 7.3. I updates all my .lrtemplate presets in the Develop module and sends them from C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Develop Presets up to C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\Settings which is not the issue. I do not even have the sort issue caused by use of the internal naming convention used for this version. However, with this version, I decided to remove the LRD in front of the folder name. I figured that the new location would be the place to do this. I did. It did not change in Lightroom [yes, I restarted the application after making the changes]. Well, I figured it may still be looking at the old location because when one goes to the preset area and right-clicks on a preset to SHOW IN EXPLORER, it points to the OLD folder, not the new one. I changed the folder names there as well. Nothing happened after I rebooted the machine and restarted Lightroom. Here is where I become confused.
Where is Lightroom looking that it keeps my old folder names? I even changed the backup set I have from whence I first imported the presets and again, no change. The new location has, if I remember correctly, three .dat files which I removed to a temporary storage location and restarted Lightroom. No change. I guess I could go through the registry but this is a step I would rather not take as it may cause problems elsewhere if not done correctly. So...where is Lightroom looking for the preset folder names?
By the way, the develop presets still work as intended as far as I can determine. I cannot rename the folder names from within Lightroom [I can only rename the presets themselves or delete them, not the folder names. While this is not a priority problem because the presets are still available to me, I am perplexed by this behavior as I would like to know the source and how to change folder names. I cannot even delete the folder names [though to be honest, I have not tried deleting all the presets first and then re-importing them because without knowing the cause, I may end up with duplicate folder names]. Thanks for any assistance rendered on this issue.
