Question

Facial recognition scope

I have a couple of catalogues, one of which I use for work. Within the work catalogue, I have different groups of people in different folders.

To make life easier, I have recently started using facial recognition. This seems to work quite nicely, but it keeps suggesting names of people in other groups. Now I know that it can't possibly be that name, but clearly it doesn't. Come to think of it, I'm fairly sure I've seen names from the other catalogue coming through as well.

Is there any way to set the scope or range of of facial recognition. ie, a checkbox somewhere that says something like "Only suggest names from this folder"?

No, there's no way to have separate scopes, one for each folder.  You'd have to set up separate catalogs.

Oh well, worth a try.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Would it be worth adding as a feature request or is that just going to be too far down the list of priorities to bother, do we think?

You could post in the official feedback forum, where Adobe wants all bug reports, feedback, and feature requests: Lightroom Classic | Photoshop Family Customer Community.  The product development team reads everything posted there but rarely participates here. There is some value in posting a feature request, though in my own opinion, Adobe isn't going to invest much more in LR Classic's Library and related features.
