Question

How to convert existing dng files with small preview to a newer dng file with full size preview?

Hi.

I have a good set of dng files exported from lightroom. For some unknown reasons, the embedded previews are smaller in size (1024x683x24 BPP) though we opted for full size. The dng file size are larger ie 7379x4924x24BPP.

I have 1000s of such files. Is there a way, I can generate fullsize previews for all of these files and attach them to the dng to create new dngs if needed?  Ideally, I would like the old dngs to be attached with full size previews in place of the current smaller previews..

Please let me know.

Thank you

As far as I know, what's done is done. Don't worry about it. When you're working in Lightroom that preview is only used until Lightroom is able to generate a full preview anyway, especially in the Develop module. Just move on.

The issue is, we use imagemagick to generate large size jpgs, eps files at a later stage using these dng files. To incorporate the lightroom changes toward color corrections etc on the export files, we use the imagemagick option to extract embedded jpg to generate different sized jpgs, eps etc. Thus, we do need full sized jpgs to be embedded within the jpg files. Is there anyway i can get full sized jpgs incorporated into dng files?

There isn't from a Lightroom or Camera Raw standpoint. Whether or not it is technically possible with other software is something that I would not know since I'm not that technologicically advanced.
