Images showing as pure red

Has anyone come across this before?  A while ago some images, some times, would show a pure red.  Going into develop, or back to grid view, will make it go back to normal.  The images themselves are fine, no curruption or anything, just sometimes will display like this.

I talkd to Apple and it seemed like it was a GPU issue.  I had it also happening in Apple Photos (which was good because it eliminated the "well that's 3rd party software nothing we can do about it".  I had my iMac (2019, i5, 32G, Radeon Pro 580X 8G) logic board replaced Saturday and spent all weekend reinstalling and copying backups and rebuilding everything from scratch, but today as I was going through some photos and boom, red square shows up 😞

I haven't seen this in the photos app yet, so for now I'm going to say that yes, it is a bug or issue to do with Lightroom, but I'd like to know if anyone else has seen this in case there's some sort of constant.

Others are reporting the same symptoms in the official feedback forum:

https://feedback.photoshop.com/conversations/lightroom-classic/lightroom-classic-showing-red-previews-and-consuming-apple-gpu-resources/609c3bbf293f816f4e6ef536

While LR seems to trigger this (according to other reports), that the symptoms also appear in other apps indicates a bug in the graphics driver, not LR.

Please add your details to that problem report, and be sure to click Like and Follow at the bottom of the first post. Even though it's likely a bug in the graphics driver, perhaps Adobe will be working with Apple to bring it to their attention.  By following that report, you'll be notified of any changes in its status.  (Adobe generally doesn't monitor this forum.)

The first thing that you should try is to switch off the GPU support from the Lightroom preferences and check if that helps to fix the issue.

Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Performance tab > Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor" > Restart Lightroom.

Another step is to try to reset the Lightroom preferences.

If this doesn't help please check your monitor profile.

My System: Intel i7-8700K - 64GB RAM - NVidia Geforce RTX 3060 - Windows 11 Pro 25H2 -- LR-Classic 15 - Photoshop 27 - Nik Collection 8 - PureRAW 5 - Topaz Photo

Possible, but I did just regenerate the 1:1 and smart previews for that folder, and sometimes it happened on an image and sometimes not on the same image, sometimes in develop and sometimes in loupe.  The fact that it's always pure red makes me (and anyone I've mentioned it to) immediately say "GPU".

It isn't all the time, it seems random, not enough to be reproducable (to the chagrin of the apple support person I was dealing with) but happened enough to be infuriating.

Going to ignore it for a bit and hope it goes away though, worst case nuke my previews file and rebuild it all from scratch.  Just interested to know if anyone had seen this before.
