I have Lightroom 5 and have started shooting in Raw files with my Canon EOS 750d, however when I try to import LR states it cannot generate a preview of image an won't let me do anything. I've tried updating and it states software is up to date. Is there anyway I can view and work on my Raw files with LR5 please

Download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert your RAWs to DNG, and import the DNG into LR 5. Or upgrade (purchase) Lightroom 6/Lightroom CC 2015.

Your version of LR doesn't support that camera. You have 2 options.

1) Upgrade to a newer version of LR.

2) Use the free Dng converter to convert the proprietary RAW files to DNG files that you can then import into your version of LR.

By converting to DNG will I lose any of the raw properties limiting my editing options.

No. A DNG file contains all the same data as the proprietary RAW file.
