Lightroom 6.14 with LR using Camera Raw 10.1

When I try to import Nikon Z7 raw (.nef) files either uncompressed or lossless compressed into Lightroom 6.14, Lightroom shows "Preview unavailable for this file" and fails to import .nef files.

Lightroom 6.14 is running on MacOS Mojave (10.14.2).  MacOS's Preview will display photos of .nef files.  ON1 Photo Raw will import and edit .nef files.

Have already tried turning "Use Graphics Processor" Off.  Already re-installed Lightroom 6 to ensure Lightroom was running latest version (6.14).  Tried flushing both Photo and Video caches.

According to Adobe, Lightroom 6.14 is supposed to support Nikon Z7 raw (.nef) files.

Lightroom is using Camera Raw 10.1, instead of latest version of Camera Raw.  However, from what I have read, CR 10.1 is latest version LR 6.14 will support.

    The Nikon Z series is not supported by Lightroom 6.14. You'll need to upgrade to the latest version 8.31 to get support. Alternatively, download free copy of DNG converter, then convert your images to DNG.
