Lightroom Classic CC - crashes

Hello,

My Lightroom Classic CC started to crash after maximum 1 minute from the opening on My Macbook Pro - macOS High Sierra 10.13.6

I have the latest update for the app, I gave the app permission to Write and Read for all the users, I uninstall it and install it back, change the GPU preferences.. I tried it also in Safe Mode but nothing helps. It opens, stays open for about one minute and just closes without any warning.

Adobe Photoshop seems to work fine.

Could you please advise?

Thanks!

That actually gave us a bunch of info. It is crashing because you have a corrupt file on your hard disk that it is trying to read. It is the file '/Users/Serby/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Lightroom/7.5/Debug Database.txt'

What you should do is go to that folder (hit shift-command-G in the finder and copy and paste the sentence: /Users/Serby/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Lightroom/7.5/

in the dialog you get. Locate the file and put it in the trash. It should automatically recreate it when you restart Lightroom.

I would also if I were you reboot your machine and hold down the command and R key during the startup chime. Then run disk utility from the recovery mode you'll be in on the startup disk and have it repair any irregularities.

I think we wrote in the same time. Yes, I replaced that file after taking another look to the Report and now it is working.

    Unbelievable..

I replaced that .txt file "Debug Database.txt" with the one I had in 7.4 Version and it seems like now it's working.

I cannot believe that a .txt file could cause this..

It's a long shot, but there might be a hint on the cause of the crash if you look at the report that the Apple dialog shows when you go into it.

This is unbelievable.. to pay for a software and when you need support nobody to care about it...

Is this a forum where payers can get support, or what the hell is this? For one week I am sending reports and messages here and nobody gives a shit.. Nice way of working.

This is a user-to-user forum, so we can only respond to what has been posted, here, which isn't a lot to go on, other than your LR Classic crashes after about a minute and you're on a Mac and have tried disabling the GPU.

A couple more things to try would be:

    1)  Create a new, empty catalog and see if things are ok.

    2)  Pause Address Lookup, Face Detection and CC Sync, restart LR and see if things are stable for more than a minute.  Then enable each of those settings one at a time, restarting in between, and wait for a minute or two and see if the crash is related to one of those things.

I'm on a PC not a Mac so am not quite sure what all you can do on a Mac but if there is some way to find out what files the LR process is reading and writing to at the moment of the crash, perhaps it is related to a bad video or image file that LR is trying to examine as part of the background process of seeing if metadata has changed outside of LR.

    Hello,

I still have this problem and I really don't know what else to do... Should I expect to receive any answer to that report or this is the end of using LR for me?

    Hi SerbyVR6,

Sorry that Lightroom Classic CC is crashing after being idle for 1 minute on your Mac.

Could you please provide us the crash report from Lightroom? Refer the steps mentioned in this article Submit a crash report for Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom to know how to access the crash report.

    Thanks,

    Akash

    Hello,

I don't get this window to be able to provide the feedback like that. I receive the message from the Attached Print Screen. I followed the instructions in order to keep Always Show This Dialog on, but sill not receiving that Dialog box to send the report to Adobe. I can only send it to Apple, thing that I already did. Is there any other way to do it?

Just wanted to add, Photoshop and Lightroom CC are working fine, tried them yesterday. The problem is only with Lightroom Classic which I'm using most.

No plugins or anything added to it from the moment it worked to the moment I got this error.

    Thanks!
