Lightroom Classic crashes computer on import Windows 10

I've had this problem for a few weeks now.

Everytime I try and import pictures my computer crashes (blue screen with Windows 10 Error code for INTERNAL POWER ERROR)

  • File
    • import photos and video
      • select photos to import
      • click import and instant crash and reboot

Anyone else have this issue? What can be done to solve it as I can't import new photos at all.

Thanks

Hi Lucas,

Sorry to hear about Lightroom Classic crashing on import, could you please let us know where are you importing the images from? Local drive or External Drive?

Have you tried turning off the Graphics processor from the Lightroom preferences? Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Performance tab > Uncheck GPU > Restart Lightroom and see if it helps with the crash.

Blue screen errors might occur due to Hardware issues, could you try copying a few images to the desktop and then try importing them in Lightroom?

Please let us know if it helps.
Regards,
Sahil

I imported photos onto my desktop and imported from there (successfully) so it must be the SD card slot has somehow broken...randomly? strange.

Do you have a secondary SD card to test?
Also, it might be related to the SD card slot as well, do you have any external SD card slot which connects with the USB port?
