Lightroom classic - DynamicLinkMediaServer

Hello,

I'm using LR Classic running Windows 7 and I get the following message : Couldn't start Dynamic Link Media Server.

This occurs each time I try to use the Slide Show tool and this stool remains unusable.

Any idea to solve this ?

Thank you.

And consider: dynamic link manager crash - windows 10

now as an experiment with LR Classic closed, I went in and deleted the folder mentioned, started Lightroom Classic, and it did in fact recreate the folder in question.

Not sure if the link translated completely correct on what folder to delete but outside of Lightroom, with Lightroom Classic not running I deleted both:

    Dynamiclinkmanager

    and

    Dynamiclinkmediaserver

From my C:\Users\goldi\AppData\Roaming\Adobe folder, and Lightroom Classic recreated them.

    How to reinstall Dynamic Link???

Ok, apparently as seen in this video:

    Fixing Dynamic Link - YouTube

for another set of Adobe products (that wants to talk with Adobe) the Dynamic Link is installed via the Creative Cloud

EDIT/looks like he is talking about a different Dynamic Link

He does not work thru a fix

To me that means the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop Application

Edit/ he is a high end in terms of type of programs, I mean After Effects? He could be talking about his entire Creative Cloud Plan, not the Desktop APP

What happens if you uninstall your Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop Application, then re-instill (the latest)??

Uninstall the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application

How to download Creative Cloud desktop app

Incidentally, following link is about Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App versions:

Release notes for the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app

and the current version is Version 4.8.2.476

Something else to look at, although it might be a bit dated

Adobe Creative Cloud Update fails due to DynamicLinkManager

Re-looking at the Processing running. When LR Classic is running AND I am viewing a video form LR (in this case a .mov file). In Processes running within Lightroom I see Adobe Dynamic Link Manager running.

And if it does or does not show up appear to be dependent upon where I left off in the catalog or if the catalog has a video in it (something a bit odd with that)

When I see it, and look at its properties this path is provided:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Creative Cloud\ACC\Adobe Lightroom Classic\Helpers\DynamicLinkMediaServer\dynamiclinkmediaserver\1.0

    Odd that it is x86

Now I went and renamed that folder, restarted Lightroom Classic, Lightroom did not recreate it, and my lope view of a video did not include a play button. And Task Manager did not show Adobe Dynamic Link Manager running.

Closed LR, renamed that folder back, restarted LR and it worked again.

So, in your rig , do you have C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Creative Cloud\ACC\Adobe Lightroom Classic\Helpers\DynamicLinkMediaServer\dynamiclinkmediaserver\1.0

    ???

Looks like you will need to contact the techs at Adobe, yes, I know, annoying. To do so google "contact Adobe", a phone number may appear, doubt if that still works, in reality you will need to start a chat, get assertive with them, and get them to accomplish a service call with you.

generally any Adobe site, click on support, clcik on contact.

this site for one: Contact Customer Care

Also odd, now on my Windows PS, no such service or process running.

    So recommendations on stooping/starting, how???

    Yep frustrating.

So, at least on my rig the DynamicLinkMediaServer process does not appear in Task Manager, under Process until I start Lightroom Classic and run a video. It appears within the Lightroom Process.

This thread exists: Import Error: Connecting to Dynamic Link Server Failed

but it is for a MAC, I do not have a similar link for Windows. I do not know if accomplishing the equivalent in Windows would work.

hmmm, in that. very lon link, some mention of uninstalling quicktime then reinstalling , but does quicktime even exist any longer, similarly mentions iTunes, apparently apps that use the dynamic link media server and that install it.

When you google the issue, lots of Adobe programs, not jut LR use this for video. Not sure how it gets involved in slide shows. So solutions for it in Photoshop, Elements, etc also exist.

Could your anti virus be in the way? similar to firewall possibility, an exception might be needed. Most common anti virus do not foul this up.

Should have mentioned in previous. Is this a new problem, did it work before. Is the only change, updating LR?

Are you running a Firewall on your PC? Perhaps a conflict. Perhaps temporarily turn it odd, test. If that looks like the issue, then you need to find out how to keep the firewall from blocking.
