Question

Lightroom Classic shutting down Windows PC without any error message

Hello,

My problem is: LR classic installed on my PC - Windows 10 Home  (1803) RAM 8 GB - closes on its own without an error message - every few minutes. When reopening the program the picture is ready to continue. All previous changes are stored. The shutdown happens independently of what I am just doing or what function I am using in that moment.

Is there any idea what might be the reason for this issue?

TX in advance.

    Hi inad7700474,

Sorry that your computer is crashing while using Lightroom Classic.

As JustShootMe has mentioned any application on your computer cannot make your computer crash, its a device driver or memory module that might be causing the system to shut down unexpectedly.

Which exact version of Lightroom Classic are you using?

    Thanks,

TXS Akash and JustShootMe for your responses,

sorry not the computer is crashing, only LR (version: 6.14) shuts down by closing the window without any reason. The "Use graphics Processor" shows no errors.

In the attachment below you find the LR system information .... perhaps this may help to identify a reason for the LR errors. Any idea?

    TXS in advance for assistance.

First up, Lightroom is a very CPU tasking program, can actually call for more capability than some games, defiantly nastier than Photoshop. way worse than say a word processor, or a spreadsheet.

    Now a few observations.

While it’s a very old copy of LR, and probably does not call for the latest GPU driver, yours does appear to be out of date.

As your display is not 4K, and as this is an old LR, any use of GPU acceleration in Preferences/Performance is probably useless, and perhaps detrimental if in use.

I notice LR is addressing Open GL as opposed to DirectX, on non v8.2.1 this can be an issue.

You have some problem with the hardware in your system.

Could be a heat problem or a RAM problem.

No program functions properly when opened and then just shuts down for no reason. There is nothing in the LR code that would cause this.
