Lightroom Update for Canon 6D Mark II Raw files

New Here ,
Oct 15, 2017 Oct 15, 2017

My version of LR is 2015.10.  The current version is listed as 2115.12 at Adobe Helpx.  The Cloud app says no updates available for LR.  Is this the reason LR will not recognize the Canon CR2 files from my Canon 6D mark II camera?

Photoshop CC does open these files.  At present i have to open the files in PS and save them as PNG before i can import them into LR.

How do i get LR to import these files as it has done in past for all my other CR2 raw files?

Cameras supported by Camera Raw

Yes, the 6D Mark II was first supported in CC 2015.12 (shown as 6.12 in the table at the attached link)

Try updating Lightroom to CC 2015.12 manually.

My Lightroom is the Adobe Cloud version.  The link provided appears to be for the non-Cloud  version.

How is a manual installation of the Adobe Cloud version accomplished?

The download file can be used for both versions CC and 6.

The link provided appears to be for the non-Cloud  version.

It's the only version available from Adobe. Try it.

It'll detect if you're using the Cloud or non-Cloud version. The program code is the same. The only difference is the licensing mechanism: the Cloud version is activated via Adobe ID (and therefore unlocks more features) and the non-Cloud version is activated via serial number.

Hi,

Sorry but new to all this, I have Lightroom on my laptop (5.7.1) I think which I have been using for some years with my Canon 700D camera.

I have just purchased the Canon 6D Mk II which as stated the files could not be uploaded to my Lightroom.

After taking your advise I am now using the trial version of Lightroom CC 2015.12 which is working fine and i`m now getting used to using it.

My query is do I have to use both versions of Lightroom or stop using the desktop version with all my information on it.

Is there any way the new version CC 2015.12 can be overloaded onto the old desktop version.

Sorry again if this sound stupid but as stated i`m not up with all this high tech stuff.

Thanks in advanced

Clive Wells

The installation of the CC version of Lightroom will be done in a separate folder. If you open you existing catalog (from version 5.7.1) it will be converted to the appropriate version and get the "-2" extension to the name. For example your original catalog is named pictures.lrcat it will be rename into pictures-2.lrcat.

You can use both versions but I'll recommend if you're happy and familiar with the new version to deinstall the old versions.

LR CC 2015.12 isn't the actual version of Lightroom. This is at the moment Lightroom Classic 8.3.1

Which operating system do you use? I think it's possible that you can use the actual version.
