If you update to the newly released LR Classic CC V7.1 supposedly it is now available.
I suggest you restart your system after doing the update.

Hi Akash.
This is my first post in the forums, new to LR and CC. Previous Aperture user.
Current rig: MBP late 2013 13" Retina 10.13. LR Lib on External G Drive, Teather Tools USB 3.0 Cable with USB Booster to Nikon D850, active on this laptop as I am typing this.
First: IT WORKS and faster than expected! TBH I was considering Capture One but gave this a try today and am pretty impressed. Have image appearing on laptop. Laptop is connected HDMI to 55" and both are working.
Here is my issue. It is ingrained in me that I always power the camera down the camera. It is a natural reaction. On . Off. Each time you power down the camera the program disconnects the camera. When I power the camera up again LR will not find the camera. I have to exit LR and go back into the session. ( I tried with a lr lib on local drive and same result) Is there a work around? Is this common regardless of camera and or setup? Or is this a glitch with the D850.

Did the update affect ACR? I am a new user to the CC but I do remember that ACR would open up anytime I clicked on a RAW file and then would open in Photoshop. ACR doesn't open any more in this instance. Does the new update open ACR for LR Classic or it bypasses ACR? Is the only way to adjust a picture in ACR through PS? TIA...

If you're talking about Lightroom, when you choose to edit in Photoshop the image doesn't open in Camera Raw. At least it doesn't do that on my computer, and that isn't the way it's supposed to work. Lightroom has all the same Camera Raw technology. Camera Raw is simply used as a tool to assist in the conversion of the image to an RGB image during the transfer to Photoshop. But you should do all of your raw editing in Lightroom if everything is up-to-date. There is no difference in the tools between the two.

Thank you for that answer. I just tried and it opens in Photoshop now that I had the metadata shared. Which leads me to the next question. Why does PS default to a .tiff file? What are the advantages of the .tiff versus the Jpeg?
Am I making a mistake saving the image as a jpeg from Photoshop? Not a mistake per se but are there advantages to the tiff file if I am going to go back to Lightroom for more editing? I can keep it as a tiff and then export as a jpeg for the client. I appreciate the time and assistance! TY Jim

The format used in PS for images sent to it from LR is controlled by the setting you have in the LR Preferences on the External Editing tab.

I understand that there are settings to change the file type. I was wondering why TIFF versus JPEG? Is there an Adobe Processing advantage? Just curious why one over the other. This also falls in line with a color question...I have not purchased software to calibrate my laptop. It was suggested that I use sRGB or Adobe. I am not sure which one and or why. Can you shed some light on which and why?
Thanks again for all the help!!!!

JPEG, by nature, is a lossy file format. In the Lightroom preferences where you configure your external editing preferences you have choices for file types that are returned from the external editor. The two choices given are PSD and TIF. Both of those formats retain the integrity of the detail of the raw file much better than a JPEG would. Then you can export a JPEG for your client, and it's a first-generation JPEG which will have as much quality as a JPEG can have. That's the way I like to do JPEG images. I only create JPEG images for sharing when they are needed, and I delete them as soon as they have been shared. I usually don't find much need to retain them on my computer.

Excellent. I will keep to the Tiff file and convert to JPEG as needed for clients and for Photo Website. TY!!!

I'm having an issue with my Nikon D850 and tethering to Lightroom classic CC. When I tether to my computer I would like the image to show on the back of my camera and in Lightroom. How can I fix this issue?
