Hi, I hope someone can help here. I have an Epson R2880 printer and I can't seem to print from Lightroom. I went through support with Epson and they said it's not a problem with their side. This morning I did two tests. I printed the image from the Epson Print Layout (that took 10 seconds to start to print) and then Photoshop (which took 50 seconds to start). My third test was the same images (it's a collection of 6 on an a4 piece of fine art paper). By 13 minutes it still hadn't printed so I cancelled it, something definitely isn't right but I can't work out what! Any help would be much appreciated because I do all my printing directly from lightroom. Thank you
Hi sjj58 - don't give up just yet... try this... I was able to select fine art papers after doing this:
Tap Page Settings in Bottom Left corner go to Paper Size and select either US Letter or US 11x17 > then Manual Roll > close this dialog box and then go into print settings. You should be able to select Fine Art Papers now.

Was the printer ever working in the past from LR, and now it has stopped? Or, is this a new printer and the first time you're trying it from Lightroom? After printing, does it show up in the print queue for the Epson printer? Is it possible it's going to the wrong printer?
Have you checked the settings under "Printer Setup" - the button at the bottom of the left-hand panel in the Print Module? Can you show us a screen shot of this dialog open?

Hi Mike
Thanks for taking the time to answer. I have had the printer for about 6 years now and it used to be fine with LR, it's a more recent thing. When it is sent to print then yes it shows up in the Epson print queue so definitely going to the right printer. Here are screenshots
of the print dialogue boxes, maybe there is something obvious I am doing wrong!

Have you tried using Epson Print Layout? That's what Epson suggested to me so I downloaded it and it worked fine, but I want to print from Lightroom for mine, hence determined to find an answer!

Have you tried completely removing the printer and re adding it?

Yes I uninstalled and then got the latest driver directly from Epson and installed that. Really confused as to what the issue can be!

Do you have any other printers that you can choose from in your Print Dialog box? Just to test to see if you can print to another device. For example I have an HP printer that I use for paper work and an Epson for my photos. Sometimes my Epson will not change sizes when I select a different print size. If I switch from the Epson to the HP and then back again it clears up the issue and I can print.
It's not elegant but it works... I don't know why it happens only that if I change printers it acts as a reset.

Also a good idea cmgap, I shall test that too when in next Tuesday thanks. I appreciate everyone taking the time to help me work it out, it has been driving me nuts!

Hmmm, that’s a tough one. What happens if you send something from LR, and while it’s waiting, you then fire up Epson Print Layout and Print from there?
if the Epson Print Layout prints, while LR is still stuck, you could have two Print queues installed. Just thinking out loud, but it’s worth checking. What do you show under your Mac system preferences, under printers & scanners? Just one entry?

ooh I don't know, that's a good thing to check, thanks! I'm out of the office now until Tuesday so I'll try it then and let you know and I'll check what's under my system preferences too. Thank you.

oh I give up. Still can't get it to work no matter what I try!! Can easily print with fine art paper through the rear feed with photoshop but in Lightroom the fine art options are greyed out - all other settings are the same as the PS one. Michael only have one printer showing in the preferences. Cmgap tried that and didn't alter anything. So frustrating!! Seems daft but maybe I just have to get a new printer!

Excellent. First time sending an image to the printer can take a bit. The good news is that you don't have to buy another printer.

True, although I've had this one for about 6 years so was quite looking forward to a new printer but very happy it all seems to be working again!
