Question

"Previous Import" clears immediately

I have had this problem for a while now and it came suddently.

After any import (camera or drive), I can see the files for a fraction of a second in the "Previous Import" Catalog collection and then they all disappear and the number gets to 0.

The images are correctly imported and I can see them in the "All photos" collection, though.

Any fix?

How is Select the Current/Previous import set up in Preferences?

If unchecked, try checking it.

It was checked. Unchecking it does not fix the error.

Are all filters turned off?

Yes; I checked that too. No filters on import.

Rethinking  that

What happens if you create a new catalog. Try that out. Wondering if your catalog has a problem.

Dear David,

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I created a new catalog and import worked fine.

I got back to my catalog and the problem still persisted.

More: in my catalog I could see also the two pics under "all photos" I imported in the new catalog, which I believe should not happen. Am I wrong?

Sounds like a canadate for resetting the preference file. Resetting the preference file is Adobe speak for deleating the preference file and then letting Lightroom Classic to recreate it.

The preference file can get corrupted, resulting in odd behavior. Some people have a knee jerk reaction in thinking they need to uninstall then reinstall Lightroom Classic, maybe that could be called for, but it would be better to first reset the preference file.

Be aware that resetting the preference file will result in Lightroom Classic creating a new catalog instead if opening your previously opened catalog (normally) so make sure you know where your catalog is.

Be aware the resetting the preference file will revert some settings in Preferences to defaults. So be aware of what you have changed, so that you can put those back the way you want them.
