P: Font issues w/ Lightroom Mobile

Participant ,

As of the latest Lightroom Mobile updates, watermarks will not use the font "Monospace" if selected. It seems instead to fall back on "Source Sans Pro", despite the UI still claiming it's using "Monospace". I haven't tested with other fonts but surely Adobe can figure out if those are affected as well.

An additional older issue: Lightroom seems to try to sync the font selection in the watermark settings between Desktop and Mobile. Since "Source Sans Pro" is the only one of the fonts available on Mobile to likely also exist on Desktop, with perhaps the exception of "Roboto" (as the others are all generically named fonts like "Monospace", "Sans Serif", and "Serif"), and since none of the multitudes of fonts you have available to select from on Desktop are likely to exist on mobile either, this results in your font selection constantly resetting to "Source Sans Pro" whenever you use the other platform to select a font and export a photo with a watermark.

Still waiting for a response. I've seen numerous responses to other threads by staff but nothing here.

Hii,
Thanks for reporting this, I tried to reproduce the issue, but the watermark with the Monospace font worked fine for me.

Could you please share:
1. The exact steps you followed
2. The image or asset you're using
3. Your device name and OS version

This will help me understand the issue better

Thanks!

I'm not going to bother to come here if it's a one-off issue with one photo. It's happening with every image I've tried. I'm just doing a normal export from LR Mobile on Android and despite having Monotype selected, it's exporting as Source Sans Pro. And switching to Source Sans and back to Monotype didn't change anything.

As for the sync issue:

  1. Export a photo using LR Mobile (Android) and include a watermark using the Monotype font.
  2. Close LR Mobile.
  3. Open LR Desktop.
  4. Export a photo using LR Desktop and include a watermark using some other font. Maybe change some other watermark setting for good measure.
  5. Close LR Desktop.
  6. Open LR Mobile and look at the Watermark settings when exporting a photo and the font selection is changed back to Source Sans Pro.

    Galaxy Z Fold5 on OneUI 7.

My Observations:

1. Unable to reproduce the first issue where the watermark font consistently resets to Source Sans Pro on every export. The selected font persists as expected across exports.

On your device, the Monotype font may not be available and hence on export Source Sans Pro will be used as a fallback

2. Regarding the sync inconsistency between Lightroom Android (LrA) and Lightroom Desktop (LrD):

I observed that Source Sans Pro is the only common font available on both platforms. As a result, when a user applies a font in LrA or LrD that isn’t available on the other platform, the sync behavior defaults the font to Source Sans Pro.

LATEST
  1. The font selection does not reset. Monotype remains selected, but Source Sans Pro is used. As I clearly stated in my original post, this started with a recent update, so clearly Monotype is not unavailable on my device. Not to mention the font is part of the application package on Android, and not provided by the operating system.
  2. Yes, that's what I said. That behavior is extremely annoying if you use any font other than Source Sans Pro on either platform.
