Greetings - can you supply your operating system version number and Lightroom version number?
If we can get this log file: ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom CC/lrcc_console.log it would also help in diagnosing. Can anyone experiencing this issue supply this?
Yesterday I joined the Adobe family by subscribing for Lightroom + Photoshop package, but the Lightroom app immediately failed to open, giving me this issue:
AgImageIOInit.init: failed to initialize Camera Raw: initializing Camera Raw: dng_error_unknown
Of course all the app installed through the Adobe Cloud desktop are updated to the last version.
Also, I've the M2 Max 2023, 32gb, updated to Ventura 13.4.1 (22F82)
after finally getting through to Adobe Support it was found that I had some deep seeded privacy settings not setup properly and it was not allowing LR to open fully.
my recommendation it to actually get through to tech support and they'll remotely sign in for you to fix the issue. I wish I did this ages ago
"I really don't have time" to go to the AppStore and download it. Could you hold my hand provide a link?
you're the one who started with the condescending attitude for no reason. Acting like people in this forum owe you something. Next time leave out how busy your schedule is and maybe you'll get a better response.
After months of being unable to use Lightroom and Lightroom Classic I have finally figured out the issue!
There were comments about changing the sharing permissons but on the new Mac M2 Max the library folder in users is hidden by default.
By Pressing Command + Shift + . it unhides all folders and the Library folder appears. I allowed permission for everyone in the adobe folder and all applications within and now everything works!
I wish someone could have explained this before and now i see the dicussion for this is locked?
Clean install of Creative Cloud 6.0.0.571 and Lightroom 7.0 on macos 14.0
At first use of Lightroom, I am presented with an error message "Error initializing Lightroom: Failed to Initialize Camera Raw. I experience the same behavior when downgrading and running Lightroom 6.5
New subscriber to Adobe photography paid package. Pretty disappointed, out of the 3 programs, Photoshop, Lightroom and Lightroom Classic - Photoshop is the only 1/3 that seems to operate normally.
As soon as I go to open Lr Lightroom, it pops up with the message attached. I have read numerous attempts tp fix this, such as deleted preferences within Library files and changing all items in permissions to change every item to display Read and Write.
My lightroom would say it was up to date on the cloud but everytime i opened up the lightroom app, it was still the old 4.3 version. So, I decided to uninstall the app and reinstall it. After reinstalling it, every time I try to open lighroom I get a error saying "failed to initialize camera raw". It wont even let me get into the app now. I can't seem to find any solutions anywhere.
Here is the exact error it gives me: "AgImageIOInit.init: failed to initialize Camera Raw: initializing Camera Raw: dng_error_unknown"
Lightroom won't open on my M2 Max Macbook Pro on Mac OS Sonoma. I have Lightroom version 7.1.2 installed and every time I try to open the app it instantly pops up with this error "failed to initialize camera Raw" and or "failed to initialize Lightroom". I have tried uninstalling Lightroom and reinstalling older versions and this issue still appears. I have ensured that all older versions are gone from my finder and then installing the app but this issue still appears when I try to open it. I have tried using Lightroom Classic but it will just sit on the loading page and never open. I also updated my camera raw plugin and this did not work either.
I am encoutering a weird bug with light room that I can not nail down. When I open the application it throws a message unable to initalize camera raw then if you close that error the application will throw the second error failed to initialize light room and gives a bug report. The bug report is exception unknown <crash exception="EXCEPTION_UNKNOWN" exceptionCode="0xe06d7363" instruction="0x00007FF87006567C"> so I dont really have much to go on.
Steps I have tried to resolve the issue. ReInstalling the application, reinstalling drivers, reinstalling windows.
p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
No idea what I'm doing. The above error repeatedly appearing. Downloaded a recommended file from the Adobe site to fix...it did nothing. Glad I signed up for this product...Not. Literally wasted 45 mins since downloading trying to find a fix - Can anyone help. See error oin picture
