Lightroom Ecosystem - March 2023 update
Welcome! Spring has sprung and so has the March edition of the Lightroom Ecosystem newsletter. This month we are sharing another tip from Rikk Flohr, Customer Advocate for the Photography products at Adobe, about the difference between posting a Discussion or a Bug on the Adobe Community Forum. We also heard some exciting news with the introduction of Adobe Firefly, a new family of creative generative AI models focused on generating images and text effects. Read more in the News and Blog Posts section.
The Adobe Community forum is the place to have discussions about our products or report Bugs. Here’s how it works.
Do I post in Discussions or Bugs?
When presented with a New Post screen in the Adobe Community, you are given three options for Conversation Type: Discussion, Bug, and Idea.
The New Post window will default to Discussions if you search in Discussions, likewise for Bugs and Ideas.
Many customers instinctually report problems they are experiencing as "Bugs." It is natural to think a problem you are having might be a bug. For our purposes, a bug is "something in the software that is not functioning as designed." However, interpreting whether a behavior is a bug is not always easy.
Here are some reasons you might want to consider posting first to Discussions rather than jumping straight to Bugs.
1. Only about ten percent of all Bug posts are indeed bugs!
Most have already been reported, so adding your 'me-too' vote to the existing post and commenting on the current thread is far better than creating a separate bug report.
2. Far fewer people view the Bugs forum than discussions.
If you want your post to be quickly seen, understood, and responded to, Discussions is the place to be. Easily, ten times the people will see your post in Discussions versus Bugs. Since most items posted as bugs are not bugs, posting in Discussions first will help ensure you receive a swift answer to your issue.
3. Keep the Bugs in the Bugs forum.
The Bugs forum intends to convey information about verified bugs, collect customer data, and provide updates and eventual resolutions to those experiencing the bugs. The goal is to provide a single searchable destination to share information on bugs. Intermingling regular discussions with bonafide bugs creates a less helpful forum.
What If I post in Discussions and have an actual Bug?
Forum moderators are always looking for posts that belong somewhere else. A Bug posted in Discussions will be merged into the appropriate existing thread or moved to a new authoritative post in the Bug forum.
When in doubt, it is always prudent to post in Discussions first. It is likely the correct place, and you will see action on your post much more quickly.

The February 2023 release of Lightroom desktop (version 6.2) and mobile (version 8.2) provides support for cameras, lenses, and bug fixes.
In Lightroom for mobile (iOS), you can enhance videos using the Color Mix tool. You can also add, adjust the size and select a color to the borders of new customisable frames. Starting with version 8.2, Lightroom for mobile (iOS) will drop support for iOS version 14.
In Lightroom for mobile (Android), you can access the new Adaptive Presets: Portrait. You can also, easily navigate in the Edit view, and experience better edge support while cropping.
In both Lightroom for mobile (iOS and Android), the healing brush no longer forces users into refine mode, nor does it require tapping Done between each stroke.
