Hello all. Album covers from my Spotifyaccount appear in my library every time. I've looked for how to get rid of this but can't find it. Where do you disable this option?

Correct answer Jim Wilde

The auto-add option is found in the LrM App Settings menu. If using an iOS device it will be in the Settings>Import tab, if using an Android device it will be in the Settings>Preferences tab.

Totally get how that could be annoying. Unfortunately, Spotify doesn’t currently have a setting to hide album covers from your library view—they’ll show up automatically when you save albums or songs. One workaround is to create playlists instead of saving full albums if you want more control over how your library looks. Hopefully, Spotify adds more customization options in the future!

To remove album covers from appearing in your Spotify library, follow these steps:

  1. Open Spotify and go to Settings.
  2. Scroll down to the Display Options section.
  3. Disable Show Album Artwork in My Library.

This should prevent album covers from showing up in your library. Keep your Spotify app updated, as settings may change with new updates.

Hello! If album covers are appearing in your Spotify library and you want to disable this feature, there are a few steps you can take:

  1. Clear Your Recently Played:

    • Go to your Spotify app and navigate to "Home."
    • Tap on the gear icon to open "Settings."
    • Scroll down to "Recently Played" and clear the list. This might help in reducing the clutter of album covers.
  2. Manage Your Library:

    • Open your library in the Spotify app.
    • Tap on "Albums" and see if there’s an option to remove specific albums from your library. Usually, you can do this by tapping on the three dots next to an album and selecting "Remove from Your Library."
  3. Check Your Display Settings:

    • Go to "Settings" in the Spotify app.
    • Look for any display settings or options related to how your library is organized. Adjusting these settings might help.
  4. Contact Spotify Support:

    • If you can’t find an option to disable album covers in your library, it might be best to reach out to Spotify Support for further assistance. They can provide specific guidance or update you on any possible app limitations.

Unfortunately, Spotify doesn't offer a direct setting to disable album covers entirely from appearing in your library, but managing your library and clearing recently played items can help reduce the appearance of unwanted covers.

Can we have a bit more information:

Where do the Spotify files originate, desktop or mobile device?

What version(s) of Lightroom are you using and on how many devices?

If the Spotify files are being automatically stored in the Camera Roll (iOS device) or the Gallery (Android device), AND you are running Lightroom Mobile on that device, ADD you have the "Auto add" option enabled in the LrM settings menu, that could explain how they are getting into Lightroom unintentionally.

Hello Jim,

Thanks for your answer. Your detailed response gave me enough information to find the auto-add option on my phone. I knew I had to look for it in this direction but haven't found it yet. Thank you for your comment, it helped 🙂
