Question

Backup raw files and catalogue from Lightroom 7.2

Hello,

I've signed up to Lightroom 7.2 and would like to temporarily pause my subscription as I'm considering switching to a non-subscription based software. My photos and the catalogue are saved in the Lightroom cloud. How do I download the raw files and the catalogue?

Thanks,

Henrik

If you "pause" your subscription, your photos will be deleted in the Adobe Cloud after a time (90days?).

So you need to be sure you have those photos on a 'local' hard-drive in your computer system. (ie, NOT a backup!)

You can 'download' your photos from the Cloud in two ways-

1) Export the photos

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-cc/using/save-share-photos.html#export_photos

Or choose the DNG option in the Export-

https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-ecosystem-cloud-based-discussions/export-dng-files-in-3-easy-steps/td-p/10917524

2) Use the Adobe Downloader App

https://helpx.adobe.com/au/lightroom-cc/kb/download-lightroom-photos.html

Option 1) may be more reliable as you can Export an Album at a time, being selective to test the export is working as expected..

Note you have no way of preserving your 'Catalog'. It cannot be downloaded or used 'locally'. If you re-subscribe then it would mean re-importing all photos to a 'new' catalog.

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.1.1, Photoshop 27.3.1, ACR 18.1.1, Lightroom 9.0, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.2 .

Thank you for your help. That's all very clear.

A shame that I can't download the catalog.

Thanks
