Can't Open Files In Photoshop

Community Beginner ,
Oct 11, 2025 Oct 11, 2025

I am constantly having issues with not being able to open my photos I am editing in Photoshop directly from Lightroom.  It tries but then times out after about 5 minutes.  It seems to only work right once every ten times I try.  It doesn't matter if it's internally stored or in the cloud.  It is bcomig very time consuming.  Is this a software issue or pehaps something internal on my end?  I am working towards a better graphics card to improve the amount of time it takes to de-noise a photo.

Thanks for the information! Try resetting the preferences of Lightroom using the steps suggested here: https://adobe.ly/47oVKSi

Though the article mentioned Lightroom Classic but the steps would work for Lightroom desktop as well.

Thanks,
Nikunj

Hi, thanks for reaching out, and we're sorry about the delay in responding to your message.

Are you still experiencing the same behavior? If yes, please let us know the versions of Lightroom and Photoshop you're working on and the version of Windows you're using.

Have you tried reinstalling both the apps to check if that makes a difference? If not, please try that and ensure you install Photoshop after Lightroom.

Let us know how it goes!
Thanks,
Nikunj

I have still been having the same issue.  It was working right about once every 5th or 6th time I tried it...un-installed both programs and re-installed them, and now,  it won't work at all.

Lightroom version 8.5.1

Photoshop version 26.11.0.20250918.r.a87e57fx64

Windows 11 Pro  version 25H2

It was working great....and then both programs updated to the new 2026 versions.  Now, back to the same problem.  Getting really tired of paying this kind of money for programs that have such frequnt problems.

I'm sorry that the issue persists after the updates. Try reinstalling the apps through the Creative Cloud Desktop app. Uninstall the apps, then restart your computer. Once you've restarted the machine, install Lightroom first and then Photoshop.

Let me know how it goes!
Thanks,
Nikunj
