Question

Color Profile options change on every image

Hello!

I use ColorChecker Classic to create color profiles. I use my iPhone 13 Pro to take RAW photos of everything. I am working on Windows 10.

If I take five photos of a mural I painted (one with the ColorChecker in the photo) and bring them into Lightroom, the available color profiles are utterly random for every shot. I import the color profile, and I might be able to apply it to 2-3 of the images, but it is "missing"  from the other pictures. If I try importing it again, I get an error saying that it is already imported. It will even show color profiles that I deleted and aren't anywhere on my computer.

I have tried uninstalling LR and reinstalling it. I tried deleting all presets. I have tried deleting everything I can find that relates to color profiles or presets, but nothing seems to help.

I know for a fact that all images are RAW. I can't figure out why the available color profiles change for every photo, and where can I delete/clear all of the old stuff that it still remembers for some reason? Is everything stored in the cloud, and things are mixed up?

Thanks

Just checked and the way to do this is to control or right click on the superfluous profile in the browser and select "delete profile". Screenshot:

I tried that first because it seems so obvious. But unfortunately, nothing happens when I control or right-click on any of my profiles. I can only interact with those icons by clicking the star to make it a favorite. Nothing else happens.

You are right, the popup only works on the profiles added in the user-profiles section. The colorchecker ones end up in a different spot. It also seems that once synced up, you can no longer edit these!

Dang, that's depressing. Was hoping to use LR to edit photos, but I guess I will have to stick with DaVinci Resolve.

Thanks for your time.

The profiles are specific to the different cameras on the iPhone. So if you shot a profile using the ultrawide one, it won't be available for the wide camera for example. Not sure why this is done as there is no difference in color rendering between the cameras that I have been able to detect but this is how it works.

Great thinking! You are correct that it does change between photos shot with different cameras. Strange that I didn't think of that before.

Where is it pulling the profiles that I deleted from my computer, and how can I remove them from LR? I can't find where LR is getting that information from. The goal is not to accumulate many profiles and keep it minimal.

Not at my computer with Lightroom at the moment, but I think there is a manage profiles item in one of the popup menus where you can delete profiles.
