copying photos

Using Ligntroom 5.5, I am trying to copy photos on a memory card to a folder in an external drive, through my MacBook Pro (this laptop does not have enough space to copy all my photos). How do I do this?

Use Mac Finder to copy the files.

However- If you Import (Add) the files to Lightroom v5.5, then they are Imported (and 'moved') to Adobe Cloud storage.

In the Lr Preferenes >Local Storage you can ask to store a local copy and choose the external drive, but remember any deletion of files from Lr will also remove these 'Local' copies.
