Hi All, currently I use LR CC as my main editing suite but like to use the iPad for portability and sync my top photos/portfolio to the cloud and Lightroom mobile. On the desktop LR I have all photos as smart preview and on the cloud the originals. On the desktop it is easy to export from LR Cloud as high res from the adobe cloud but I can not figure out how to do it on the iPad. I do not want to put the high res on the iPad for space limitations and would like to limit the need of an external hard drive.

Long story short - my iPad has the smart previews and the full res are on the cloud.  How do I export from the iPad and get a high res photo for a big blow up?

If I make sense, please help.  If I don't make sense then that is probably the problem.  Between the keyboard and the chair:)

You can export an image from the iPad as large as it is in the cloud. Use 'Largest Available Dimensions'. The iPad will download the original if you export larger than the size of a smart preview.

+1 to what Johan says.  However, to be clear: if you are importing and syncing your original images using Lightroom Classic, please understand that Classic only uploads "Smart Preview" copies to the cloud and not the original images.  Only the cloud-centric Lightroom desktop app (not called Lightroom Classic) or the Lightroom mobile apps upload original images.  You sounds like you're aware of this, but I want to be sure.

If you need the original resolution of the image, The LR iPad app has access

Hey All,

Seems like we understand.  Still using classic because ot works and i like it.

here is my process:

- I sync my top images that i need for whatever and want them as full res.

- once synced, i drag and drop them from classic to desktop.  That keeps the originals in desktop.

- then i delete the originals in the desktop library.
- that leaves orginals in the cloud and smart across desktop and mobile lr.

if there is a better way or im doing it wrong, i'm all ears:)

not ready to use desktop exclusively:)
