Easily share pre-sets/profiles between LR, LRc and ACR?

Hi,
I'd really like to know how I can have Lightroom (cloud-based) automatically find and use the pre-sets/profiles I have added to the Classic release?

Is there a method to copy them all across? Is it buried in the prefs somewhere? Can it also work with ACR?

TIA
Andy

Hi Andy, thank you for sharing these additional details. I completely understand how frustrating it can be to manually keep presets in sync across Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, and ACR, especially when updating or creating new ones.

At this point, importing/exporting is the only option, and we understand how cumbersome that can be when you’re updating or creating new presets frequently. I’d strongly recommend creating a feature request here: https://adobe.ly/44Mihsj.

Hi @ShootingPixelsAndy! Thank you for reaching out! I'll help you out with this.

Head over to the Develop module of Lightroom Classic, from the Presets panel on the left, right-click on any preset and select Show in Explorer (Windows) or Show in Finder (Mac). This will open the folder containing your .xmp preset files. You can copy these files to a safe location.

Now, in Lightroom, go to File > Import Profiles & Presets, navigate to the folder where you saved your copied presets, and select them (You can import them as individual files or as a .zip archive). Click Import.

Also, when you install .xmp presets in Lightroom Classic, they are stored in a shared CameraRaw/Settings folder, which both Lightroom Classic and ACR can access.

Hope this help! If you need more information on exporting and Importing presets in Lightroom Classic, you can check out this Helpx article: Lightroom Classic Presets FAQ

Let us know how it goes!

Cheers!

Noel

Thanks @Noel Orridge I was aware of this method, what I was hoping for was a way to have all 3 apps use the same collection of presets rather than have to handle moving them to and fro myself. That way I won't have to jump through all the hoops when I create/edit/update a preset in one app.

The other issue I've noticed is that once I've imported some presets into Lr 8.4 the Import tool stops working and I have to quit and re-open the app.

One thing I forgot to mention is that Lr will happily import the same preset more than once so you can end up with multiple versions with no way to tell which is which.

Hi Andy, thank you for sharing these additional details. I completely understand how frustrating it can be to manually keep presets in sync across Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, and ACR, especially when updating or creating new ones.

This is the best way to get visibility from the product team. Other users can also upvote your request. The team actively monitors these posts when prioritizing future improvements.

Regarding the two issues you mentioned:
â€¢ Duplicate imports: You’re right! Lightroom currently doesn’t flag duplicates during import, which can lead to multiple versions of the same preset. Create another feature request or include this in the one you're going to create for Preset Sync across all 3 apps.
ʉۢ The import stops working, which is not expected behavior. Could you share your Lightroom version and OS details and, if possible, a quick screen recording? This will help us reproduce the issue and log it for the team.

Thanks for bringing this up!

Best,

Anshul Saini
