I like to create a mask around the subject of my photo; when I do, I select the item, and then it creates an area around it; however, Adobe Lightroom is awful, and I have to spend hours on photos with the little brush to make it go around the edges of the subject. For some reason, it is terrible at edge detection, and I am spending hours on end trying to separate my subject from the back as I change the colors of the background/lighting. Any help? Thank you!

Hey, @Jason31366759vt32. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll help you figure this out.
Thank you for the feedback. The auto-mask methods in Lightroom are great for getting a head start in most cases, and you can always use the brush to refine the selections further.
You can use Photoshop to make precise & detailed pixel-level masks.
Thanks!
