Edit gallery sorting

Explorer ,
Sep 20, 2023 Sep 20, 2023

The edit page used to be able to be sorted by date of image. Now after recent updates when sorting by date on the imports page it only sorts by IMPORT date. No one cares about impurt date, we want to ssee it by DATE TAKEN. please either fix this or forgive a sorting option for both

Check the bottom of your device screen. You need to be in Lightroom - not Gallery, in order to use the sorting options.

right. in the lightroom app, at the bottom of the screen, i am in Edit mode, not gallery. While in Edit, i can sort by date, but the date sorted is the import date. There should be an option for Date Taken.

In the Sort By Option, I see:

  • Capture Date
  • Import Date
  • Modified Date

Capture Date should be your "date taken"

What OS are you using? This is for Android. under the sort options i have an option to enable 'grid segmentation' or not.  Then once enabled i can only choose from

-segmentation - none

- Segmentation by Year

-Segmentation by Month

-Segmentation by Day (my selected option)

-Segmentation by Hour

There is no option to change the Day option from Import Date to Date Taken

I am using Android and Lightroom 8.5.2

When I set Segmentation to 'Segment by day'

I see the following options for sort:

Capture Date
Import Date
Modified Date
_____________
Reverse Order

You should probably post screenshots as I am not able to duplicate what you are describing.

I also have V8.5.2, so its strange you see different than i do. Here is what i see in the edit screen when opening up the 3-button menu.

And here is what i see when choosing the segment by day option:

There is no further option to choose which day type.

Thank you for the screenshots.

It is hidden behind the dialog in your first screenshot:

Tap the Sort Icon to the right of the funnel icon (top-right) to reveal the options.

Thanks so much for your help, unfortunately that isnt it either. The only thing behind the dialogue box is the filter button, which doesnt give you sorting options or date options.

You can see the icon (grayed out)  in this screenshot next to the funnel with the associated Sort By: dialog.

Have you tried in a different folder like "All Photos"?

Interesting. So the sort button is there for the 'my edits' and 'unedited' folders, but won't show up for 'imports'. I don't know why. That's where I need it.
