Question

Facebook Profile Picture is Blurry from editing in Lightroom

Hey,

I've edited a photo in lightroom however when I upload it to facebook as my profile picture it is blurry.

I have tried resizing the image to the facebook profile pic size however this did not help. I have also ensured the photo is saved as a JPEG file and that the dimension is the small (2048px). I have the image quality on 100% too and have tried the sharpen tool on the editing page.

Does anyone know why I'm having this issue and how I can solve it? The image was taken on an Iphone 12 pro max and my friends with the same Iphone don't have this problem. The photo is also high quality (not blurry) when I go to upload it to facebook. My facebook settings on my phone are on the upload to highest quality setting. The photo looks fine up until I upload it.

Thank you 🙂

Hi,

does this only occur when uploading to Facebook?
What Share/export option are you using?
Does it behave different if you use e.g. Export to Camera Roll vs Share to vs Export As...?

thanks,
Ignacio

Hello Ignacio,

It only goes blurry once posted as my profile picture. I wasn't sure if it was due to the aspect ratio or px but I changed both to the optimum with no improvement?

i read that I shouldn't crop it before uploading as my profile picture so tried that too but no luck.

i have tried both save to camera roll and export as but it did not make a difference.

thank you for getting back to me:)

I guess one question is, what kind of image is the original (also JPG) and what are the dimensions?
Are you enlarging the image with the pixel settings or making it smaller?

Hello,

These are the photo details:

Wide Camera - 26 mm f1.6

12 MP • 3024 × 4032 • 2.3 MB

i'm not sure about the second part of the question (sorry!). I'm not very camera-savvy!

thank you:)
