FUJI XT5 Tether not working

Hello.  I cannot connect a SD card reader to either my iPhone or iPad.  The device does not show up and therefore I can't upload photos directly to these devices.   Anybody share this experience?  Any ideas?  Thank you.

are you trying to do tethered shooting, or just load images from an SD card after you've already taken images?
