This is only occurring on LR mobile and not on desktop.

Can you explain more? I see northern lights, stars (the dots in your image) and clouds, but no artefacts.

In the second attachment, there is an artifact encircling the clouds. This was after the photo had loaded

I see now what you are looking at. You appear to be screenshotting a screenshot in the images which can cause issues if the device you are working on is a HDR capable device which all recent iPhones are. What format are the original images in? Are they HDR capable formats such as HEIC?

I screenshotted a video to post an example but all the original pictures are in RAW format. So lightroom shows smart previews of that on mobile, but even downloading the original file does not fix the issue.

Check if HDR is turned on on these images in Lightroom. Tap on "light" and go down all the way. You'll see a toggle switch. If on, turn it off, If off, turn it on and see what effect it has. These sort of poesterization issues can also be caused by the choice of profile. For this go to the profiles screen and see what it has selected there.
Lastly, know that Apple's proRAW format is not actually raw. It is heavily cooked. So if you shoot proRAW with your phone, you're not actually shooting raw at all but something else.

I have never used HDR mode - toggling it on/off does not seem to do anything. I also typically never change or set a profile, however, setting an Adobe Raw profile appears to get rid of the issue. It persists using Camera Matching profiles. I am just confused why this is happening to all my photos, even ones that I haven't edited yet. I shoot RAW with a Sony camera.

Any idea why this just started happening yesterday and is affecting my entire library? And how to fix it other than manually adjusting each profile?
