Whats the point of the "group to stack" function? Can I load a stack into Photoshop as layers? I want to focus stack some images.

It's just a way to organise images in Lightroom. You cannot load a stack as layers in Photoshop and it has nothing to do with 'focus stacking' if that is what you want to do.
