I have 2 versions but they don't show up in the film strip view, and I can't figure out how to compare them side by side. Is this possible and how? This is the desktop version on my Mac.

It's not possible to compare two versions of the same image side by side. You'd have to duplicate the image (select one of the two target versions first), then compare that new image with the original imge (which has the alternate version selected).
