How do I remove duplicates

For various reasons, I have about 15,000 duplicate photos. How can I remove them?

If there is no built-in mechanism, is there an API? A way to do it through the file system?

Hi JasonYoung,

Sorry that you have many duplicate images in Lightroom. Could you please let us know if you're using Lightroom Classic CC or Lightroom CC and which exact version of the app?

You may refer this similar discussion for some helpful suggestions: Remove Uploaded Duplicates After Migrating To Lightroom CC

Thanks,

Akash

It's Lightroom CC, version 1.4. (that's all I thought this forum was for?)

That linked thread isn't helpful at all. It's talking about a migration from Lightroom Classic CC. My migration is done, I've already done a ton of cleanup.

Akash - there are a few strings here referencing the discussion you reference above, but the link seems broken. I have the same issue as I have pictures coming from multiple sources - classic, Photos, and several phones.

You could give them an identier, flag/reject/1 star or suchlike (I am sure someone can suggest better) and then filter under those criteria. Then select all

and delete.

It may be a workaround as I dont know of a way of automatically identifying them.
