How do I restore the color profiles in Lightroom?

Community Beginner ,
Mar 24, 2025 Mar 24, 2025

I accedently clicked the favorite star to off on the adaptive color profile.  Now I can't find it anyway.  How do I restore it?

I've moved your post from Creative Cloud desktop to the Lightroom forum.

No need to "restore", simply use the profile browser and you should see an "Adaptive" group, open that and you will see the Adaptive Color and Adaptive B&W profiles.

Thank you for your reply.  This is where the problem is, I see the profile group but only have the adaptive B&W profile within.  The Adaptive color profile is missing, this is what I need restored.

Click on the tri-dot icon next to the "Profile" header, and then make sure that "All" is selected (you may have "B&W" selected, which would only show specific B&W profiles).

 I should have been more clear, sorry for the confusion.   I'm using Lightroom Classic on a windows 10, 64bit PC.    My Photoshop is fine.  My missing adaptive color profile is within Lightroom Classic.

Different UI, but the same question. At the top of the LrC profile browser there's a bar with buttons for "All", "Color" and "B&W". Can you confirm that you have "All" selected?

Thank you for getting back to me.  Yes, I have confirmed it, all is selected.  All stock color profiles are there but the adaptive color.  I lost the the adaptive color when I accidently click the favorite star off in the upper right corner of it.  I've trying for hours trying to find where I can turn it back on.

Can you post a screenshot of the opened Profile Browser. Hoping for some clue as to what's happening.

Uninstalling/Reinstalling LrC should restore the missing profile, but it would first be nice to see if we can figure out why it's gone missing.

Thanks, but nothing obvious there. Frankly, I don't know how or why the Adaptive Color profile is missing, so unless anyone else has a better suggestion I would uninstall and reinstall LrC via the Creative Cloud Desktop app.

@davids41103537

You said your are using LRC. Be sure to deactivate before you uninstall. They are not the same thing.

What do you mean by "deactivate"?

Same question, what do you mean by deactivate?  I would think all I need to do is delete LRC off of my computer then through Adobe reload LRC.

I would uninstall and reinstall LrC both via the CC Desktop app.

My thoughts on this thread-

@davids41103537

Do you have a raw image selected?  'Adaptive' only appears for raw file images-

JPG  vs RAW

Are you scrolling down to see Profiles at the base of the panel? Your scroll elevator suggests a long view of the Profile previews.

Have you tried viewing the Profiles in 'List' view, and closing all the groups?

I have it up and working again. I was starting LRC by way of a shortcut pinned to the task bar. Once I lost adaptive color after clicking off the favorite star thereafter the taskbar shortcut would load LRC without the adaptive color profile. I then tried the main LRC icon through the start button and now all is working the way is should, both adaptive color and B&W are there. I have rebooted the computer and started and exiting LRC several times since and so far all is good.  I would think a shortcut would have nothing other than a path to the LRC executable within it.
