Hi Adobe friends,
I have question that I can't seem to find the answers to anywhere. I use Lightroom CC (I have a subscription) on both my desktop and on my mobile device. I have created presets on Lightroom CC Mobile and I am wanting to know how I am able to export and sell them.
Presets that I have previously purchased from people on Instagram download as DNG files which are then able to be imported into Lightroom CC Mobile and used on all photos. My question here is wondering HOW they've done this. Do they have Lightroom Classic and have exported them as DNG files which they have then been able to sell? Or is there a way to sell the .xmp files that Lightroom CC wants to export the presets as?
Do I need to download Lightroom Classic, create my presets again, export them as DNG files and then sell them from there? I did this and it worked. However, this seems cumbersome and i'm worried the presets won't look identical to the ones created in Lightroom CC.
PLEASE HELP! Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Presets don't download as DNG files and never did. What people did was apply a preset to a DNG file, so you could save the settings in that DNG file as preset again. That is no longer necessary with the new XMP presets. If somebody imports an XMP preset into Lightroom CC on the desktop, it will sync to Lightroom CC on mobile. For Lightroom Classic they'll have to import them separately, but you don't have to create them separately (unless you want to include something in the preset that does not exist in Lightroom CC yet, such as a Range Mask).

Thank you so much for your response.
Forgive me, I am a newbie with Lightroom and all of its processes. The issue I was seeming to have was that I couldn't import XMP files into my Lightroom CC on the desktop or on my mobile device. Because I couldn't import them (it said something about an unsupported file type), I assumed that I should just do it the other way by using DNG files.
How am I able to create a DNG file from a JPEG that I have right now? It seems to be that all presets I've bought have been DNG files.
Thank you!

As I explained already, presets are not DNG files. They never were. DNG files are images, presets are text files. If you bought DNG files as 'presets', then these were apparently so you could create a preset from the embedded settings. If you want to sell your Lightroom CC presets, then all you need to do is right-click on the name of such a preset and then choose 'Export...'. That will create an XMP file, not a DNG file.

Thank you. Okay, that makes sense. But, now my problem is that I cannot import XMP files into my desktop app or the mobile app. It says unsupported file type?
Thank you!!

For example, I will:
1. Import a photo (generally a JPEG file)
2. I will apply my preset that I have created.
3. I will then export the preset and it will create an XMP file.
4. I will try to then import the photo back into lightroom as the XMP file to test my preset and it doesn't work.

As explained, a preset is not an image. You can’t import a preset as if it were an image. There is also no reason to want to import it to test it, because there is nothing to test. Your preset is already in Lightroom and it already works (you applied it to a jpeg image). So why would you want to test it one more time? Because you don’t believe that Lightroom is capable of correctly exporting a preset?
With all due respect: if you have no idea how this works, then maybe you should learn the basics before deciding to sell your presets. How are you going to give support to your customers if you don’t know it yourself?

I’m asking for help so that I can learn the basics. Not for judgment. Maybe you’re misinterpreting my confusion. I’ll find my answers elsewhere.
Have a great day.

Have you tried Import Presets via the File Menu or using the Import dialog in the Presets Menu?

I think that is already answered in this thread, so let's avoid duplication.

Wow... I always find it interesting when someone asks for help, doesn't pay attention or listen to the help offered, and then gets upset when the person helping gets frustrated at them for being obtuse. Funny how often this is followed by "Have a great day!" as if this makes being ungrateful okay somehow.
