How to Sync Profiles Over to Lightroom CC Mobile (iOS)

Guest
Apr 08, 2018 Apr 08, 2018

Hello,

First of all, I love the latest update! It's just I've got an odd issue.

Left screenshot: On desktop (MacBook Pro), I have access to all my custom (VSCO) profiles and can use them.

Right screenshot: On mobile (iPad Pro), there is only one custom profile.

Is there a way to sync them all over onto the mobile version?

If I can manage that, I might actually remove my computer from my colouring workflow all together!

Cheers.

I do have the same issue after converting my Mastin Labs presets to profiles which work fine on Lightroom classic however do not show up on my iPad pro.

It seems to me, the custom profiles are not synched with LR Mobile at all

But it's a bit odd that one of them managed to sync over in my case. Which makes me hopeful that syncing of profiles (and perhaps presets in the future) will be a thing. THEN, I can finally move over to Lightroom CC and never look back.

I just checked again: even between LR Mobile on my iPhone and on the iPad presets are not synched - that includes also my favorits. I have no clue whats going on between the different platforms.

If I change favorits on the iPad they are not shown under favorits on the iPhone

Profiles cannot sync to mobile currently as far as I know. The only way I know off to get a profile to mobile is to embed it in a dng file and load that dng file into CC.

What?

Synching presets and now also profiles is one key requirement for „offline“ workflow - at least for me. It would be a huge disappointment if Adobe after all is still not able or willing to implement this major functionality.

Maybe it's not yet supported...

Here is one (of I guess many) similar feature requests that you can vote for:

Lightroom CC its integration with the cloud ecosystem are all pretty new. You’d imagine there is a lot of development to come. Hopefully.

I am having the same problem - and funnily enough, the exact same profile (160S - F)made it through to my iPad.

I'm also having the additional problem where ANY photo I've edited on my computer with a VSCO profile (or one of my other custom profiles) cannot be edited on my iPad without removing the profile!  This is broken and makes the iOS app almost useless for me. Previously, I couldn't apply the profile on the iPad, but I could still edit photos that already had the profile applied.

Yes—I would colour and fix geometry of my picture first on my computer end then sync it over to my iPad Pro for dodging & burning and other selective edits with the pencil since it's a more hands-on and engaging experience. And since iPad Pro's screen is one of the best possible in our times, seeing the final photo on it always helped me get a sense of how it would look on the web or printed. Now I can't just edit synced photos—just like Allen's problem. This is sort of a huge issue for me.

Absolutely agree. Makes LR Mobile (and consequently CC) useless for me. It is astonishing that they have not provided this feature yet...

It's amazing, at least to me, that every feature that isn't in Lightroom CC is one that is critically missing to someone, and therefore renders the program useless. Lightroom CC is still in its infancy! You've got to give it time to mature. It's new technology, going in a new direction and catering to a different type of user.

JimHess, the feature is actually available in Lightroom CC, but it is not in the Mobile/iPad versions. Btw, before the last update, you could still use the mobile versions to make edits even if the profile would not be applied. Now, they lock you from making edits, moving backwards rather than forward.

No, I don't think they lock you from making edits at all. They only warn you that if you do make edits, the profile will be changed to Adobe Standard.

My comment still stands. There has to be consistency between devices. That is one of the challenges of this Lightroom CC platform. I'm not part of the development team, have no connection with Adobe, so I have no inside information. But if something isn't there, there must be a reason. You will have to give it some time, or offer your constructive criticism on the appropriate forum where the developers monitored more closely.

@JimHess The difference (and the reason I'm complaining now and haven't before), is that what I'm talking about was possible before the update, and now is not.  This isn't a problem with the app being in its infancy, and where we just need to be patient for the addition of features. This is a step backwards that has disrupted a workflow that was already established with existing features.

I thin I have a similar issue, if someone can help.

I edited my photos on Lightroom CC on my desktop with VSCO presets.

Then I want to publish the album on the web thanks to the "Share" option in CC.

But the presets are not supported on the web version, exactly like the mobile version of CC.

Does anyone know how to fix this ?

Do you think I will be obliged to reedit my photos with Adobe Standards if I want to make them appear clean on the web page ?

Thanks to you all for your answers.

You cannot fix this currently. These external presets combine a camera

profile with a preset and the profiles do not sync. The only real solutions

currently are to not use these and only use built in profiles or to publish

from your desktop.

Thanks for your answer.

I understand that. But even when I publish from my desktop, it doesn't apply the preset when the pics get on the web.

What is weird is that the presets show well in CC in the square grid, but not in the photo grid, which seems to be the one that is published when you share an album.

Anyway, for the moment, I'll stuck with the built in profiles, but it is annoying when you already did all your editing with other presets.

E.

Oh you are publishing using the built in webservice! That indeed will not

work because the jpegs get rendered by Lightroom on the web (

Lightroom.adobe.com) and not by your local machine. So it will be the exact

same effect as publishing from a mobile OS. I thought you were publishing

to a non-adobe web service. In that case exporting jpegs from your desktop

and publishing those will work. In Classic you can use publishing services

to directly publish to many third-party web hosting services. None of that

exists in CC.

OK, I get that.

Do you know if the feature will be soon developed in the new CC, or if I have to stick to the built in profiles ?

I used to export my pics from the old CC to publish them, actually, but the difficulty with the new CC is that you can't reorder them to export them properly with new names and new numbers.

I guess there are no good solution.

Adobe is aware of it and has it somewhere on their list of things to program for. No clue what their priority is for this. Add your voice on feedback.photoshop.com where Adobe checks for bugs and suggestions. Here is an example thread on this problem: Lightroom CC: Missing Camera Profile warning on mobile | Photoshop Family Customer Community . This forum is a user to user problem solving one and few Adobe people hang out here.

Not sure if it helps, but I got the missing profile error too. Then I deleted the app, redownloaded it from the App store again, and my camera profiles are back again.
