I have lightroom classic and Adobe lightroom syncing issues

I have both Lightroom Classic and Adobe Lightroom. In the past, I only used Adobe Lightroom, so all of my edits were in the cloud and did not take up space on my computer's hard drive. I just started to try and work with Lightroom Classic, but it somehow filled my hard drive with all the pictures I have in Adobe Lightroom. My question is, how do I get the pictures out of my hard drive and not lose them in the cloud? And stop it from importing into Lightroom Classic in the future if I download them into the online Lightroom.
