Images not showing in Lightroom

Community Beginner ,

I am new to Lightroom.  When in Lightroom and I go to add photos, I go to Photos on my iMac and select a folder, only about 8 images show up out of 200 in Lightroom.  I have never seen this happen on any software I have used.  Any help would be much appreciated.

What do you mean with "I go to Photos on my iMac and select a folder"? Photos is an application, made by Apple.

Sorry, but again it's not clear. "A folder from the Photos app"? Do you mean that you exported photos from the Photos app (into a folder) that you now want to import into Lightroom?

You can't select the Photos app itself (which is in your Applications folder), so I assume you select the Photos library in your Pictures folder. That is the wrong way to do it. You cannot simply import images from the Apple Photos Library. What you need to do is use the menu 'File - Migrate Apple Photos Library'. Do that once to migrate all the images from Apple Photos to Lightroom, and then quit using Apple Photos. Only use Lightroom.
