keywords not migrated

I am using Lightroom for years, my latest version was 5. By the end of last year I changed to the all new Lightroom CC 2018. I migrated a catalog containing 16.000 pictures. Everything works fine, but soon I realized, that there were no keywords shown. I did not bother, because I trust in Adobe. And I had other things to do than to organize my pictures. Somewhere I would find them. I thought it was just a matter of understanding the concept.

Now I have to say, that all my keywords are definitely gone. I have no idea, what Lightroom did to them.

Is there anything I can do? It is 16.000 pictures. To lose the keywords would really a nasty thing.

What about these IPTC-Keywords? Where are they?

thanks

Stefan

No, I see nothing when I open the keywords. The list is empty.

OK, then you need to clarify how you did the migration into LRCC. Did you use LRCC's "catalog migration" tool, or did you just sync all the images from LR Classic, or did you add (import) you photos into LRCC?

If you used the catalog migration tool then any existing keywords in the Classic catalog should have been included in that migration, but using the other methods it rather depends on various other factors. So let's get the method clarified and we can work from there.

Which version did you migrate from? Normally LR6 is required as a minimum, or a previous catalog which has been upgraded to Lr Classic.

Did you get any error messages during migration?

I had the catalog imported to the latest version of Lightroom Classic CC (test-version). From there to Lightroom CC.

No error messages. Nothing.

Yes, I can search for my keywords. I just learned that. But when I have a new foto I do not see a list of my keywords to tag the new foto. Why is this?

I must admit that I still did not find any secondary literature on Lightroom CC 2018 to learn from in GERMAN. And whenever I find something and I have a close look it is dealing with Lightroom classic (which was called Lightroom CC before). This is sort of not ideal.

I have this issue as well. I cannot find a Keyword List, ie a list of previously used Keywords. I am just loading 5000 photos taken in The Gambia, mostly of birds. If I search for BIRDS then almost every photo will come up. I am attaching keywords to each photo, but almost every photo I have to type in Birds and Gambia. Also once I have identified a bird and attached keywords, for example Gambia,Birds,Waders,Plovers,Spur-winged Plover, then when I get to the next photo of the same bird I need to go to a Keywords List to find the Keywords that I have already used. Otherwise I have to type all the keywords in again. If all the birds are all in the same place, then it is easy to highlight and attach the same keywords, but often they are found on different days or different cards, so that is not possible.

I had this facility in Lightroom Classic, but cannot find it in Lightroom CC
