Lightroom 6 will not launch. "Update browser" message??? Win 10

Tried to start LR 6 today after not being used for a loooong time.
First it asked if I wanted to start a trial for 32767 days. I agreed. But then it crashed.

I launched LR again, but now it says I have to update my browser, adobe applications and OS. And then it freezes.

How do I get it back on track?

More info: I restarted the PC and LR and realized the "update browser" message is apearing when I select "licens the product", and it promts me to sign in to my account.
