Question

Lightroom CC Sync is Complete, but can’t view photos in Creative Cloud

Hello,

I have about 900 photos that I imported to Lightroom CC (on iPad Air), and they all successfully synced/backed up to the cloud. On the Creative Cloud iPad app, I can view my photos under "LR Photos", but on the Creative Cloud website, or on my laptop desktop CC app, my photos are nowhere to be found. There is no option for "LR Photos". Am I missing something? It says "You have no cloud documents", but my photos ARE backed up to the cloud (I think?) Why can't I view my backed up photos anywhere but my iPad app? On my laptop and the website, it says I've taken up 5% of my available cloud storage, but I have no clue how to actually view those files unless on the iPad app. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

There are two different elements of a user's "cloud storage".

Firstly, there is the storage used for photo and video files that are imported using any of the Lightroom "ecosystem" apps, e.g. Lightroom Mobile on smartphones or tablets, Lightroom Web which runs in most browsers, and Lightroom Desktop which runs on MacOS or Windows10 computers. Once imported, they are automatically uploaded to the cloud storage, and from there they become visible and accessible from any of the other ecosystem apps (provided the user has logged into the same Adobe ID).

The second element are the "Creative Cloud Files". These are data files, not specifically photo/video files, which can be stored in the local "Creative Cloud Files" folder which you should see on any device which has the Creative Cloud Desktop app installed. This operates in a Dropbox-style, i.e. data stored locally is uploaded to the cloud, and from there can be downloaded to all other associated devices. You can also store data in this area which can be shared and downloaded to other non-Adobe users. Photoshop Cloud Documents would be stored in this area of the cloud storage.

The two elements combined will comprise the total amount of the user's cloud storage that is being used, but they are in the main separate entities.....the Lightroonm apps cannot see data in Creative Cloud Files, and vice versa.

So....if you want to see the images imported on your iPad on other systems, you have to be using one of the Lightroom apps on that other system (or use the LrWeb app in a browser).

Thank you, Jim. This makes some sense. I guess since I was able to view my photos in the iPad creative cloud app, I thought I should be able to see them everywhere else in Creative Cloud. Wouldn't that make sense??

Am I able to download the backed up photos from Lightroom onto my laptop to have separate local copies that are seperate from the cloud photos?

That was a dumb question; of course i can export them from Lightroom. It seems to take a very long time, but I think that's due to my laptop being very slow.
