Question

Lightroom Cloud- backup images AND catalogue to SSD?

I use Lightroom cloud.  I also shoot lots of video.  I want to keep everything off my internal harddrive and also have the rumoured better Lightroom processing from working from a faster SSD.

There are soo many confusing instructions regarding the use of lightroom and SSD, especially because of the confusion in lightroom names.  A lot of the threads that boast increased Lighroom editing speeds are dealing with the desktop Lightroom Classic.

(1)  Will there be an increased processing/editing speed in Lightroom (cloud version) if I use an SSD to store the files or the catalogue (edits)?

(2)  I've seen some threads recommend storing both the files AND the catalogue to the SSD and then some threads recommend ONLY moving the catalogue to the SSD.  Which should I be doing?

(3) How do I do this transfer?  Do I need to change any settings?

Lightroom (not Lightroom Classic) does not have a local catalog, but a local library. This is merely a cache. Its storage location is hardwired, so you cannot move it to an external drive. You can specify where Lightroom stores local originals (if you save a local copy) however, so that location can be on an external drive.
