Lightroom face detection not working

New Here ,
Dec 15, 2025 Dec 15, 2025

I enable the people view in lightroom and it didn't work, so I disabled the people view and enabled it again and it's still not working. Any suggestions? I tried restarting my computer and quitting lightroom.

One thing to be aware of is that a specific unnamed face will only appear in the People view if there are at least 5 instances of that face in the catalog.

To test that the People analysis is working, find a photo that has a face or faces that are clearly identifiable, then click on the Keyword (Tag) icon at the bottom of the right-hand vertical toolbar. If the analysis has worked you should see a "People" section at the top of the Keyword panel, like this:

Hi @EL-1152

Thanks for reporting this and sorry to hear you’re running into issues with People view. To help us investigate this further, could you please share a few more details?

  • System info from Lightroom's help menu and copy-paste here

  • Whether this happens with all photos or only certain albums

  • Approximately how many photos are in your library

  • Did face detection ever work for you previously, or is this the first time you’re trying it?

In the meantime, please try these steps:

  • Make sure Lightroom is updated to the latest version.
  • Go to Lightroom > Preferences > General and toggle People View off, restart Lightroom, then turn it back on.
  • Sign out of Lightroom, restart your system, then sign back in.
  • If you’re using a VPN or firewall, please disable it temporarily and test again.
  • Try enabling People view on a small test album to see if faces start appearing there.

Once you share the details above, we’ll be happy to take a closer look and help you get this working.

Regards,

Srishti

If you do see unnamed faces you can add the name in that panel, after which that named face should then appear the next time you invoke the People view.

That sounds like a completely different and unrelated problem. I suggest you start a new thread explaining the issue in more detail.
