Question

Lightroom photos keep resetting

I will spend a great deal of time editing photos in Lightroom (most updated version) but when I come back later, the edits on some photos randomly reset like I haven't touched it to begin with. It's taking more time to edit photos because I keep having to redo them. I think this is happening when I change the sorting view with photos, but I'm not sure how to replicate the issue with it happening so randomly. It's happening everytime I use lightroom now.

We did find and fix a similar issue in the 8.3 release coming out shortly. Please upgrade to that when you can and let us know if you continue to see edits getting reset.

I have been having this issue as well, particularly when editing on iPad then going to export on desktop. I had over 7,000 photos revert, and ultimately needed to keep from using the desktop app until I'd revered the versions back to my iPad edits via the LR web (took ~60 hours to do this) then export them in batches of 500. Any more than that the the zip file will become corrupt. Once they're exported, delete them from your catalog and hopefully you can re-open Lightroom without this re-occurring.

So far, I've been able to avoid having it happen again, but have had other significant issues instead. Can't win.

You can see details on the bug being reported on the thread below, and mentions that a fix will be implemented eventually but it's not a common enough issue to be rolling out soon.

Wondering if it's a cloud issue. I think I'm having a slightly different problem though because it's only happening to a random number of photos I edit at one time, but not all of them. Very strange.

Hi @Christopher31928809kgjw!

How often does this issue occur? Is there any pattern with the affected photos? When you check https://adobe.ly/4jBH8n0, do you see a sync errors folder?

Thanks a bunch!

Alek

Are you also using Lightroom on any other platforms, like your phone or a web browser?

No, just desktop.

Hi @Christopher31928809kgjw, welcome to the community!

I'm sorry to hear your edits keep getting reset. Could you share more details about the issue? What version of Lightroom and operating system are you using?

If you could share screenshots or a recording, that would be really helpful.

Thanks a lot!

Alek

Lightroom Verson 8.2

macOS Sequoia Version 15.4

I can't really take a screen recording/screenshot because it just happens randomly with no warning. However, what I can say is I think it might be happening when I either (a) change views from detail to a grid option, or (b) change the sorting from capture date to modified date. Basically, I think I have the edit done, but then I switch off the image or change the sorting. It's just weird because it happens to random photos for no rhyme or reason. I also do a lot of edits with HDR merging, so I'm not sure if that has something to do with it. I look in the stack of the affected HDR photo to see if the edits are in one of the photos in the stack, but still can't find any edits.

Hey @Christopher31928809kgjw!
By any chance, are your edits visible in the saved or auto versions menu?

Thank you!
