Lightroom Poor quality when downloading photos via shared link on Lightroom Web

Community Beginner ,

Hey,

I edit my photos with Lightroom (cloud-based) and I publish them using a shared link that can be created in Lightroom. Unfortunately, the photos which are downloaded via the link, have a poor quality. (The quality is 70% of the actual quality). Is there a way to change that to 100% quality?

Are there alternatives to this shard-link-option (e.g. with Lightroom Classic) or is there another way to share photos with Adobe (in good quality)?

Thanks!

Hi Leander,

Thanks for reaching out. We are sorry for the trouble with Adobe Lightroom. I'd love to help you figure this out.

What is the format of the images you work on? Are they JPEG or RAW?

When you create Web Albums for sharing & collaborating, you can choose to allow JPEG downloads by viewers/contributors.

If you are using Lightroom Classic to upload images, you are uploading a smart preview of an image, and the original is not in the cloud. Only a 2048px JPEG will be downloaded in this case.

If you are using Lightroom to upload images, originals get uploaded, and you can have a higher quality JPEG to download compared to Lightroom Classic. However, it is still not the Original, and you will get a 70% quality JPEG. Sharing and downloading RAW files by viewers is currently unavailable.

Please check this community thread & the responses shared by our Adobe Community Professionals: https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-ecosystem-cloud-based-discussions/high-quality-file-sharing...

We hope this helps,

Thanks!

Thank you!

Is there a reason, why I only get a 70% quality JPG when using the shared link? Will this be changed in the future?

I contacted the support and they recommended to upload pictures on assets.adobe.com and share them from this platfrom.

The sharing within Lightroom Web is more like traditional web sites, so images are shared at size/quality optimised for general use.

The suggestion to use assets.adobe.com is more like Dropbox and relevant when you want to share the originals. In Finder or Explorer, you should see a Creative Cloud Files folder, and this is connected to assets.adobe.com  which is the web UI for these synced files.
