P: Lightroom UI suddenly got way slower with this latest update

I'm a wedding photographer who uses LR CC for culling extensively and this latest update did something to screw up the UI making culling unbearable.

1. Swiping between photos used to be snappy and quick, now it's almost as if it's holding the image during the entire swipe, which is making swipes much slower.

2. Swiping up/down for flagging used to be much more sensitive, and now the action has to be very exaggerated to register a flagging action.

3. Swiping up/down for flagging is often getting misinterpreted as a swipe to the left or right. This wasn't an issue before and now suddenly is.

Video of what I'm talking about:

Greetings all,

Adobe Lightroom Mobile product updates are released.  The October (Max) updates contain a fix for this issue.

Updates will be available via the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and the Galaxy App Store. Note that it can take several days for some customers to receive a notification of an available update via their App Store.

Thank you for being so patient.

@Charlie.D Awesome! Can I ask what happened that made it this way? Just curious. Also rough ETA? Like months or weeks?

@hellobrandonscott

I see a fix is confirmed and on track to ship in an upcoming release some time in October.  Unfortunately, this couldn't be made available sooner.

@Charlie.D @Sameer K any progress updates? It's really slowing things down in arguably the busiest editing season. Thanks fellas!

@hellobrandonscott

I don't think Apple makes app downgrades possible.  I will follow up when I have any updates on your reported issue being fixed.

@Charlie.D Just checking to see if it's possible to revert to an older version in the meantime?

Thank you @hellobrandonscott for reaching out, and thanks also Sameer!

I pinged the engineers to ask if any recent work in this area has happened.  They will take a look, so I am converted this thread back to a bug with status set to Acknowledged while the team investigates.

Hey, @Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll help you figure this out.

What exact version of iPadOS & the variant of iPad are you working on? Does this happen with

Log on to Lightroom Web (https://adobe.ly/3TKo7Fl) and check for all the images that have synced and uploaded to the cloud. Once everything is backed up to the cloud, uninstall Lightroom, install it again from the Appstore, and check how it goes.

Thanks!

@Sameer K iPadOS 17.5.1 and the model number is MVV93LL/A.

Also FWIW, it also does this odd thing where the black bars on the sides of a portrait-oriented photo go from a 95% gray to black after swiping and the photo settles into place. Not sure if this is an indicator of something else but just bringing your attention to it since it didn't happen before. You can see it around 0:29 in the clip above.

Following up - I uninstalled and reinstalled and there's no change in behavior.
